Wireless Coded Caching Can Overcome the Worst-User Bottleneck by Exploiting Finite File Sizes

چکیده
We address the worst-user bottleneck of wireless coded caching, which is known to severely diminish cache-aided multicasting gains due fundamental worst-channel limitation multicasting. consider quasi-static Rayleigh fading Broadcast Channel, for we first show that effective caching gain standard XOR-based coded-caching scheme completely vanishes in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. Then, reveal this collapse not intrinsic caching. do so by presenting a novel can fully recover capitalizing on one aspect has remained unexploited date: shared side information brought about effectively unavoidable file-size constraint. As consequence, effect dramatically ameliorated, as it substituted much more subtle worst-group-of-users effect, where suggested grouping fixed, and decided before channel or demands are known. Furthermore, theoretical recovered number users increases, done without any user selection technique. analyze rate performance proposed derive approximations prove be very precise. Importantly, approach translated other schemes scenarios, including decentralized scenarios.

Adding transmitters dramatically boosts coded-caching gains for finite file sizes
In the context of coded caching in the K-user BC, our work reveals the surprising fact that having multiple (L) transmitting antennas, dramatically ameliorates the long-standing subpacketization bottleneck of coded caching by reducing the required subpacketization to approximately its Lth root, thus boosting the actual DoF by a multiplicative factor of up to L. In asymptotic terms, this reveals...
متن کاملCoded caching schemes for Flexible Memory Sizes
Coded caching scheme has recently become quite popular in the wireless network due to the efficiency of reducing the loadduring peak traffic times. Recently the most concern is the problem of subpacketization level in a coded caching scheme. Althoughthere are several classes of constructions, these schemes only apply to some individual cases for the memory size. And in thepractice i...
متن کاملDecentralized Coded Caching Without File Splitting
Coded caching is an effective technique to reduce the redundant traffic in wireless networks. The existing coded caching schemes require the splitting of files into a possibly large number of subfiles, i.e., they perform coded subfile caching. Keeping the files intact during the caching process would actually be appealing, broadly speaking because of its simpler implementation. However, little ...
متن کاملCoded Caching with Heterogeneous Cache Sizes and Link Qualities: The Two-User Case
The centralized coded caching problem is studied under heterogeneous cache sizes and channel qualities from the server to the users, focusing on the two-user case. More specifically, a server holding N files is considered to be serving two users with different cache sizes, each requesting a single file, and it is assumed that in addition to the shared common link, each user also has a private l...
متن کاملCaching Eliminates the Wireless Bottleneck in Video-Aware Wireless Networks
Cellular data traffic almost doubles every year, greatly straining network capacity. The main driver for this development is wireless video. Traditional methods for capacity increase (like using more spectrum and increasing base station density) are very costly, and do not exploit the unique features of video, in particular a high degree of asynchronous content reuse. In this paper we give an o...
